We’re mostly unhealthy, lacking one thing or another from our body. Why? Well, it is a known fact that the food that we eat today is compromised. Either it lacks nutrients or it is mostly grown in an inorganic way. Let’s not blame just what we eat. How we eat, is also the culprit here. Given our current lifestyle, our concentration on food, it’s preparation and eating is becoming lesser by the day. Hence today, we lack nutrients from our bodies more than ever. Fast food, easy-to-cook, ready-made, home-delivered… all these options have made our eating easier but they have also snatched away all our essentials. This has led to numerous health problems and complications. Today, let’s understand how to tackle this problem by increasing our Vitamin intake. We will also see how these essential vitamins help us stay healthy and problem free.
“One size doesn’t fit all” Let me extend this adage and say – “There is no one secret formula to lose belly fat that will work for all!” There is a lot to be taken into account and the best solution to any problem is a Customized one – one that is tailor made exclusively for you. And this adage holds an even stronger ground when it comes to fitness. Just like one prescription from one doctor cannot cure everybody’s illness, even if the illness is same. Today, let’s explore this very common issue of “belly fat”, and how just one prescription cannot and will not work for all. We will also look into the best steps you can take and the mistakes to avoid, to reduce your belly problem.
Be it a gym injury, an awkward sleeping position, less or sudden movement of a joint or muscle, a major fall or a chronic muscle/joint condition – all these can cause soreness, stiffness and injuries, leading to mild to severe pain. Recovery in such cases might need a little more help than just pills, creams and rest. Today let’s explore the ‘temperature treatment’ method to combat such pains and injuries safely.
They say that when you work out, you don’t perspire; YOU GLOW! But let’s face it – nobody likes to sweat or see others sweat. But again, there’s no escaping it. Everyone sweats while working out – just the intensity varies. And sweat becomes even more repulsive because of the odor it carries. There’s no denying that body odor (B.O) is a big turn off! Since you are in a social setting, whether in a common gym, group class or with your personal trainer, there is a certain social protocol that you need to follow so as to not cause inconvenience to others. You wouldn’t want someone smelly working out next to you now, would you?
But should we resent sweating altogether because of B.O? Or is there a way to tackle it? Today, let’s sweat it out to understand this whole concept of Perspiration better and how not to spread the wings of B.O everywhere.
Have you invested in branded, colorful shoes that look good? That’s great! But do you know how important it is for you to have the RIGHT SHOES for your workouts? Yes, your shoes are just as important as the exercise and the right form itself. How? Today, let’s understand the role our feet play while working out and how shoes become a crucial aspect.
Girls! We know what a messy pain period can be. Regardless of how much or how less your period cramps hurt, there is no denying that the hormonal changes during PMS and periods can make us extremely moody. And it also tires us out mentally and physically. Resting is usually recommended as it helps us. But what we don’t realize is that working out during periods can be of an ever greater help. I’ll just say it – Workouts are a period’s best friend. Period.
Today, let’s understand why. Continue reading “Workouts – Period’s Best Friend”
A new trend in the fitness industry is Destination Workouts. What are they you ask? It’s about a fitness and travel enthusiast traveling to various locations all across and working out in a natural environment. It gives a raw feel when you work out amidst nature and with no gym equipment support.
The workout focuses on strength training as well as cardio, while using your body weight and what nature has to offer. Sometimes, a few people also include basic equipment if nothing is available in the surroundings. The impact is not only on your physical body but also your mental well-being as nature makes you happy!
A lot of my friends have a corporate 9-5 job. Most of them spend close to nine hours a day glued to their desks. It’s an extremely sedentary lifestyle. We haven’t even taken into consideration the fact that we are all lying down for 8-9 hours every day.
Let’s do some quick math. That’s 16-17 hours out of 24 without any physical activity for your body. Even when we’re at home, we spend at least another hour or two watching our favorite shows on TV or maybe reading a book. If that is similar to your daily routine, your body is inactive for 75% of the day!
I know it’s comfortable, but we gotta face it — it’s a life of laziness. All your muscles are at rest, but that’s not what our bodies were designed for. Sitting down for long periods of time can actually harm various organs of your body.
Keeping yourself on track to stay focused on your fitness goals can be hard. There are a lot of things to do, too many distractions around and too little time to finish it all. Sounds familiar? Let’s face it, we’ve all been there. But all you need is get yourself up and running requires determination and self discipline. Motivational speeches and talks work for some, but they may seem a little too clichéd for some. Personally, I really think music can do wonders in terms of pumping you up, if you manage to find the right track.
As I have emphasised in my earlier posts, fitness is not a goal but a journey, which one must undertake with focus and discipline. The fifth month of the new year is over and at times the determination that we started with also reduces and so does the frequency to go to the fitness centre. This is also the time of the year, when new year resolutions, which seemed so strong, now seems to waver. Here are five tips which helped me, and would probably help you stay on track :
